This week has been a productive week for me - quilt wise. Remember when I showed you a challenge quilt that some friends are making that was all hourglass blocks? (Here). The blocks finish at two inches. Here is my progress on my version:

This week two more blocks were completed for my Cousin’s Walk quilt. I now have 18 finished and 10 more to do.

The signature quilt that I showed you last week now has the flange sewed on, and also the final border. Here is a picture:

I don’t know about loose flanges. This one will sometimes lay toward the quilt side and sometimes twist and lay toward the border side, and I want it to always lay toward the border side. I am going to hand sew the loose edge down onto the border. So I guess once it is sewn down, it’s no longer a flange. I now see why it ...

It was a wonderful, peaceful week at the retreat in Shipshewana, Indiana. So many wonderful ladies gathered in one room, all talking and laughing together. I loved it.
While there I finished the binding on the May Day Basket Quilt, and made some more bird blocks for Cousins Walk. Here are a few pictures from the retreat:

read moreThe design wall has a new project on it now. Cousin’s Walk is a quirky bird quilt that some friends and I are all working on. Some of them are changing the size of the blocks, and some are changing the center block. I am sticking fairly closely to the picture on the pattern. (picture from last week) The bird blocks are all facing in different directions in the original quilt. I may switch them to all right side up before I finish, but for now, I like the quirkiness.
